Card Tearing and Sledge Leveraging

I decided to film a bit of my workout yesterday. It was a good one, hitting some new personal records and my legs are feeling it today.

Its not a good idea to really seek soreness, but sometimes when you feel it, you know you had a good workout. I may not be walking 100% normal today.

Anyway, I just put up a few videos of my hand strength training and practice of feats of strength.

Slowly but surely the feats of strength page is being filled out. In the end I’d like to have at least one video on every page, showing every feat in action.

Today, you can see tearing a deck of cards in half as well as a little sledgehammer leveraging.

If you’ve been doing this or other feats, why don’t you reply to this email and let me know how its going for you and any troubles you may be having?

In strength,
Logan Christopher

Feats of Strength Resource

Feats of strength are not just for show. Many of them prove to be great exercises to include in your everyday workouts.

Others are only really useful to impress a crowd. An application of what your training has done for you.

Regardless of what you use them for or even if you just like to hear about them I got a new page you’ll becoming to again and again.

Its only just started, with several feats of the various types of bending listed, but you can see that this will become a one-stop resource for all feats of strength. Much more will be added to the pages already made.

Not only will there be helpful tips and guidelines on how to perform many of them but pictures and videos too. My goal is to make every page multi-media.

Over the next several months the feats of strength page will be filled up. Of course, I’ll be letting you know when new ones are posted.

And if you want me to cover any that aren’t already listed (its certainly not a comprehensive list…yet) just reply to this email.

Feats of Strength

Wrestlers Bridge Concrete Break

Every once in a while you get an idea for a cool new exercise or a feat of strength. Often times you can test it out right away to see if it works or falls flat.

Other times you may have to sit on it and wait.

The latter case happened for me on this one idea I had. I’m not sure when or how it first popped into my mind but since that time its something I’ve wanted to do.

Finally that time came.

I’m not gonna tell you want it is. Instead I’m going to let you watch. I think you’ll get a kick out of this one.

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

P.S. If you enjoy it, and I’m sure you will, why don’t you give it a 5-star rating or leave a comment.

P.S.S. Oh yeah, and thanks to everyone who took the time to fill out the short survey. It’s a big help.

Saxon, Sandow and others want to help you

I got an idea for something that hasn’t been done before in this field and it really got me excited.

You know, there’s a goldmine of strength training and physical culture information left behind by some of the strongest men that ever walked this earth. Ripe for the taking. But how much of it is put into action?

How many people learn the secrets of the Iron Masters?

I’ve got an idea to help everyone involved get the most out of their books. But before I do a whole bunch of work and get everything ready I wanted to know if it would interest you too.

I have a real short survey set up. Its all of 6 questions and the majority of them are multiple choice. Shouldn’t take more than a minute to fill out.

So could you do me this big favor and give me your thoughts? It’d help me out.

Click here to go to the survey

Thanks ahead of time.

In strength,
Logan Christopher

Phonebook Tearing Battle

I haven’t spent much time on phonebook tearing recently. Simply because some of my other feats need more work, like tearing decks of cards.

But I’d still throw it into my workouts every once in a while. Most of the time this was at the end and I’d use a large book for isometrics.

This phonebook was a monster measuring over 3 1/4” from down in the Los Angeles area.

Well one day it started to tear. And every so often I’d get it a little further. But like I said I’d do this at the end of my workouts so my hands were already beat from other exercises.

The tear had gotten down about an inch or so of the book. Then I decided I was going to finish it. It was battle and certainly not a quick one. But on that day the score was Logan: 1 - Phonebook: 0.

Phonebook Tear

Most of the time you want to work on things you know are within your ability, but there are times when you need to go all out and strive for something you don’t know if you can do.

Tweaking Your Training Plans

There are often regular breaks in your routine which should be used to change up how you train. One example is travel for any length of time.

With certainty any travel is going to disrupt any plan of training you have. You may not have the right equipment to do the job, or you just might not have the time.

Of course you can still train no matter where you are, even with just a few minutes but its not likely to be what you did back home.

When you do return you can launch back into your normal training. Or you can use this natural break to change it up.

And when I say change it, I think you should look at your goals again and choose just a few ways to tweak your training. You do not need a complete overhaul, in fact, that would likely be counter-productive.

Logically, since you should be training toward your goals at all times you are just slightly re-adjusting your course.  I did exactly this after returning from my roughly two weeks of travels.

For the most part I’m doing the same thing as I did before I left. But now I’m doing a kettlebell snatch test for conditioning as a break from the kettlebell juggling. I’m using weighted situps as my new ‘main’ ab exercise.

So I’m substituting a few exercises for other ones. I’m also tweaking the set/rep schemes on my trapbar deadlifts, handstand pushups and weighted chinnups.

That may seem like a lot but when compared to the whole plan it’s just a few changes that I feel will better help me toward my goals.

The important thing is to then stick with your changes for at least a month to get the results from them.

Logan Christopher
